Anonymity called
and said it was time. Thus, I will be nameless and faceless moving forward. Privacy, on the other hand, doesn’t give an arse, so I’ll still be sharing stories, thoughts, random odds and ends, photos of things, AND updates on the baby journey…so please mosey on over to my new corner for a gander or two. The majority of my readers are non-tumblrs, so the transition will only...

I Love This Poem
The Summer Day by Mary Oliver Who made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean— the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down— who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms...

atreb: “The first thing to realize is that you are in control of your own energy. I know it doesn’t feel that way sometimes. Depression can take hold like an invading germ; anxiety can cause fear to leap out of nowhere; anger can simmer like a pot on the stove. Yet these conditions do not define you, and in fact you can begin to use basic energy—the kind that comes from food, air, loving...

Just finished watching a Jane Austen movie
atreb: which reminded me that my absolutely favorite opening line of any book is from Pride and Prejudice: “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife”…. and then the story begins, brilliant!  I wish I had a JA movie on my hands. And you to watch it with! Miss you.

Risotto
is the perfect solution when you’ve got a little bit of this and little bit of that, not enough of either to cook on its own but added to a steaming pot of creamy risotto…superyum one-pot meal. Tonight I used up the following odds and ends: asparagus, carrots, zucchini, and turkey sausage.

Observations
on patterns in facebook status updates: There’s the guy who complains and the guy who preaches, the girl who is negative and the girl who is angry. There’s the one who is bubbly and the one who is joyful. There are those who update exclusively on one or two things (sports, their kid, their job, politics…). Some only joke while others only post quotes. The transparency (for...

My husband had a life before me.
We’re sitting in the den of El’s childhood home in Atlanta. I’ve been partly studying for my licensing exam and mostly checking facebook and blogs. There’s a fire going in the fireplace, and my mother-in-law is baking tres leches in the kitchen upstairs.  El and his older brother are going through piles of stuff from their pasts: photos, school projects, magazines, letters...

atreb: I am learning that sometimes the greatest way you can show someone you love them is just to listen and bear witness to their words of grief, sorrow, and pain.  To wait in the background, meditating and praying, until they reach for your hand. It is extremely hard to do. We dont want to see our loved ones hurting, wewant to help them pick up the pieces and put everything back together. ...

Watching Oprah on DVR and have so much to say!
ABOUT THE EPISODE ON THE MOVIE ‘NINE’: Daniel Day Lewis was nervous. He was blushing and rubbing his forehead and struggling in general. Oprah had to help him out. This both comforts and terrifies me; the former because I can relate (not to being famous, obv, but to being nervous on-the-spot), the latter because if two-time Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis is nervous on the spot, what...
